In keeping with our statement of renewed commitment to the support and solidarity with the Black community, we as an organization have created an ever-growing catalog of active steps to be taken in order to better the experience of current and future students in our school. We recognize the history of institutional racism within our country and the dance industry, and strongly renounce those as a part of the culture of our school and art form. We wish to support and nurture Black members of the community that take part in our school in any way, as well as the Decatur at large.
End of Season
May 19, 2020
Dear Decatur School of Ballet Family,
Saturday drew to a close our 2019-2020 season. It was not the end we had all envisioned when we embarked on the season in the fall of 2019. But the presentations were precious and loving, intimate and special. It was so heartwarming to see the dancers in their beautiful costumes and dancing their hearts out for their loved ones. It was moving to see the faces and hear the voices of loved ones who may not have seen their precious dancers for months. This year will be one we will never forget and I hope the performances you saw this week will remain in your memories forever.
End of Season Presentation
May 8, 2020
Next week, Monday, May 11th - Saturday, May 16th, we will be holding our End of Season Presentations. Every class has been sent an email outlining some tips on maximizing your Zoom experience, as well as informing each family on how many additional devices may join the presentation. Also, the Zoom URL code was included, in order to easily share with family members and friends. If you have not received that email, please check your email and junk mail files.

End of Season Presentation

People who study dance develop in many ways. Physically, they grow by becoming stronger, more flexible and more refined. Intellectually, they expand by understanding the relationships between space and time and learning the history and science behind the movement they are studying. Emotionally, they blossom by learning ways to connect with other dancers and their audience. This season, we are all reinventing ourselves and the manner in which we relate to one another. We hope that through our Zoom class offerings each dancer has had the opportunity to grow, expand and blossom.
